Review GUYOT This is an overall
review of Guyot Designs Squishy bowls, Microbites Utensils, and the 38
oz Standard Bottle. Let me start off by saying I was highly impressed
with these products. The overall versatility and pack ability of these
products alone is a great selling point. I have used these products for well
over a month now and I have grown fairly attached to them as parts of my
overall gear.
The Squishy Bowls
Impressive pieces of gear! These
are made of a food grade silicone material that makes not only cleanup easy
but also seems to retain heat and keeps it away from your hands. However, do
not place these bowls into the fire or on any heat source. They will melt.
These bowls can also be folded and secured with paracord or a velcro strap
for even more compatibility. These bowls can be stored or pack anywhere.
This is a big plus when carrying your equipment into the field.

Above is a photo of the Squishy
bowls wrapped with paracord to to make them even more compact.
The bowls when untied sprung back
into shape. These were actually tied up for a week inside my pack previous
to unwrapping them for this review.

I was stirring hot coco in the
small 6 oz bowl. The boiling water didn't really even faze me while holding
the bowl.

This is the 16 oz bowl. I used
boiling water to reconstitute my freeze dried lunch.

My finished meal. The bowl took 15
minutes of hot water to reconstitute my meal. I was impressed with the
performance of these products. I believe this is a solution to heavy and
bulky mess kits. In my personal opinion these products are well worth the
money spent. The definitely have a place in your pack. Visit

product line.

Microbites
Utensils
These utensils surprised me to say
the least. At first I though they were made of nothing more than just
plastic. I was wrong. They are in fact made of a nylon impregnated plastic
making them much stronger. These are strong enough to pry the lid off of a
Sterno can. These are extremely light weight and snap together for easy
storage.
The Microbites come with a hole in
the handle to easily place a carbineer to attach to a pack if desired.

The spork

The photo above shows a
close up of the three in one utensil. It has a spatula, a knife, and a
spreader for butter, peanut butter, cheese, or other spreads. These utensils
are heat resistant and will more than hold up to any cooking task.
38 OZ Standard Bottle
This is the item that caught my
attention. This is the most versatile piece of gear I have seen made in a
long time. The stainless steel construction makes this bottle and
absolute survival must. This will allow you to boil water as well as cook a
meal in needed. It comes with a plastic lid that is secured with cord to
hold it to the bottle. This must be removed however if you intend to cook
with this container.

In the photo above you can
see the bottle in the fire. This was done to boil the water for my meal.

To remove the bottle from the fire
i simply picked it up with my multitool. This was not a problem. In fact it
worked quite well in my opinion.

In this photo you can see the
bottle is quite burned. Cleaning it was easy by using the sand on the
ground. |
